LASU part time degree programmes

Lagos State University (LASU) is excited to announce that it has officially begun the admission process for its Part-Time Degree Programmes. This initiative offers an opportunity for individuals who wish to pursue higher education on a part-time basis, allowing them to balance their studies with other commitments. The registration process for these programmes commenced on August 1, 2024, and will remain open for six weeks. Prospective students interested in applying are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of ₦20,000 to access the application forms.

The part-time degree programmes are available for the 2023/2024 academic session and will be conducted at LASU’s Epe Campus in Lagos. This location provides a conducive environment for learning while allowing students to continue working or managing other responsibilities. To be eligible for admission, candidates must be at least 18 years old. This age requirement ensures that applicants have the maturity and life experience necessary to undertake part-time studies effectively.

To begin the application process, candidates should visit the LASU e-payment portal. On this portal, they can complete the payment of the application fee and access the necessary application forms. The portal is designed to streamline the application process, making it easier for candidates to apply from anywhere.

After submitting the online application forms and uploading their credentials through the e-payment portal, candidates will be invited for a screening process. This screening is a crucial part of the admission process, as it helps the university assess the qualifications and readiness of the applicants. Those who successfully pass the screening will be required to pay an acceptance fee of ₦30,000 and a medical fee of ₦30,000 upon admission.

LASU offers a diverse range of part-time degree programmes to cater to various academic interests and career goals. The programmes available include:

  • Accounting
  • Agricultural Science
  • Business Administration
  • Computer Science
  • Economics
  • History and International Studies
  • Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management
  • Mass Communication
  • Political Science

In related news, the University of Ibadan (UI) has announced that it will admit candidates who scored less than 200 in the 2024 UTME or who did not take the examination through its Distance Learning Centre. This initiative provides a flexible and affordable option for Nigerians seeking higher education. The registration fee for the Distance Learning Centre is ₦50,000, making it an accessible choice for many students.

Additionally, LASU has set a cut-off mark of 195 for the 2024/2025 academic session. This cut-off mark is the minimum score required for applicants to be considered for admission. Candidates must also have at least five O’Level Credits, including English Language and Mathematics. Furthermore, applicants must choose LASU as their first choice in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) application to be eligible for admission.

LASU‘s part-time programmes are designed to offer flexibility and support to students who are unable to commit to full-time studies due to other responsibilities. This approach aims to provide more opportunities for individuals to pursue higher education and achieve their academic and professional goals.

The university encourages all interested candidates to apply early to ensure they have the best chance of securing a place in their desired programme. The application process is straightforward, and LASU’s administration is committed to assisting students throughout the application and admission stages.

For any additional information or assistance with the application process, students can contact the LASU administration or visit the university’s official website. This initiative reflects LASU’s commitment to making education accessible and accommodating to a diverse range of students.
