Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, recently restated his administration’s strong dedication to ensuring that children in the state are safe, healthy, and educated. This reaffirmation of commitment was conveyed through a press release by Dan Nwomeh, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Mainstream Media, on the occasion of the 2024 Children’s Day.
Governor Mbah emphasized the importance of protecting every child’s rights and ensuring access to high-quality basic education, aiming to inspire creativity and participation in various fields. He highlighted the significance of children in shaping the future and pledged to allocate over 33% of the fiscal year’s budget to their education and well-being.
Part of the governor’s initiatives includes the construction of 260 smart green schools across all wards in the state, aimed at providing children with a bright and productive future regardless of their background. Governor Mbah also addressed the theme of this year’s Children’s Day, “For every child, every right,” emphasizing his administration’s commitment to eliminating child labour, trafficking, malnutrition, and ensuring equal educational opportunities for all children in Enugu State.
Governor Mbah also emphasized his government’s dedication to offering free, high-quality learning experiences in elementary and primary education, moving away from old-fashioned teaching methods. He mentioned his willingness to hear what children have to say, applaud their abilities, and encourage their creativity to build a brighter tomorrow.
