The UK government has once again honored Nigerian students studying in the country by giving Mark Brooks, an educational consultant, the ‘Export Champion’ title for the third year in a row. Mark has been building connections and providing training between Nigerian schools and UK institutions.

Lord Offord, the UK’s Minister for Exports, declared that Mr. Brooks received the award for his dedication to persuading parents in Nigeria to choose UK boarding schools for their children’s education. Over nearly two decades, Brooks has organized seminars and exchanges for senior teachers from Nigeria and the UK.

Lord Offord mentioned that over the last 16 years, Mark Brooks Education has been instrumental in bringing numerous top school leaders from Britain to conduct seminars and coordinate exchanges for senior teachers. Additionally, Mr. Brooks provides guidance to parents in Lagos, Abuja, and beyond regarding boarding school and foundation options in the UK.

The UK’s Minister for Exports praised Brooks for using his extensive global network to generate additional opportunities for the country in the education sector. “Our exceptional education offerings are highly sought after worldwide, and with Export Champions like Mark, we can link more UK businesses to new prospects in markets around the world,” he affirmed.

Lord Offord pointed out the notable rise in interest in education events and exhibitions in Nigeria in recent years, backed by the UK’s Department for Business and Trade and the British High Commission in Nigeria.

Upon receiving the ‘Export Champion’ award, Mark Brooks hailed Nigerian students pursuing education in the UK as exceptional. He expressed, “Hundreds of girls and boys from Nigeria are thriving in UK boarding schools. They are warmly received because of their enthusiasm for learning and remarkable talents in sports, drama, art, and music.”

Brooks further remarked, “Students from Nigeria significantly enrich our school communities. Numerous schools have had Nigerian students serve as their Head Girl or Head Boy. The majority of these students continue their education at UK universities, with many returning to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s remarkable accomplishments in culture, innovation, business, and global trade.”

The role of an Export Champion is to motivate and support other businesses in expanding through exporting, networking, and forming partnerships. Mark Brooks Education is set to host its upcoming series of events in Nigeria in June and September 2024.
