FG Approves Swap of Pro-Chancellors Between Federal Universities in Dutsin-Ma and Birnin Kebbi

The Federal Government has approved the reassignment of Pro-Chancellors between two federal universities. Retired Colonel Abdulmuminu Aminu, the current Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, has been transferred to Federal University Birnin Kebbi, while His Excellency Ali Abubakar Jatau, previously serving at Birnin Kebbi, will now take over as Pro-Chancellor at Dutsin-Ma.

The reassignment takes immediate effect.

In a statement released by the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade, the decision was described as part of ongoing reforms aimed at promoting fairness, transparency, and good governance across Nigerian universities.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, expressed appreciation to both men for their continued service to the nation’s educational advancement. He reiterated that the current reforms are intended to foster a more enabling environment for students and to uphold the standards of Nigerian higher institutions.

“With the renewed reforms in the education system, we are determined to ensure fairness, transparency, and high-level governance across all our universities, ensuring our children receive quality education in the most conducive environment,” Alausa said.

The minister also emphasized the ministry’s commitment to merit-based appointments for principal officers in universities, stating that such transparency is essential to maintaining the integrity and credibility of the nation’s institutions.

The Federal Ministry of Education reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening governance within the sector, stressing its goal of building a transparent and merit-driven university system that serves the best interest of all Nigerians.
