Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has presented tuition fees and laptops to 127 law graduates from the state who recently gained admission into the Nigerian Law School.
Each beneficiary received a cheque of N475,000 to cover tuition, along with a laptop to support their academic activities.
Governor Buni reiterated his administration’s commitment to education, stating that over 38,000 students have benefitted from the state’s scholarship programme since he assumed office. He noted that this is the fourth consecutive year the government is sponsoring law graduates for the Nigerian Law School.
He said, “Our government has been consistent in supporting education both locally and internationally. I’m proud to say this initiative has impacted thousands, and we will not relent.”
The governor also highlighted efforts to support medical and allied health graduates who studied in India. Out of 189 such graduates, 140 have already been employed by the state, while the remaining 49 will soon be absorbed.
Buni advised the sponsored students to follow the rules of their institution, stay focused, and represent Yobe State positively. He said, “Abide by the institution’s rules, avoid distractions, and be proud ambassadors of Yobe State.”
This sponsorship is part of the Recovery Through Education and Scholarships (RETES) initiative, designed to equip Yobe’s youth with the skills and knowledge required for the state’s socio-economic growth.
