Eighteen-year-old Osariemen Unuigbe, a Nigerian-American student of Edo State origin, has received admission offers from six Ivy League universities in the United States—among them, the prestigious Harvard and Yale.

A senior at Egg Harbor Township High School in New Jersey, Osariemen is being celebrated for her outstanding academic performance and unwavering commitment to excellence. Her parents, Dr. Augustine and Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Unuigbe, expressed immense gratitude, calling the achievement “a great miracle” and giving all glory to God.

In addition to her stellar academic record, Osariemen was accepted into the highly selective Governor’s School of New Jersey and has held multiple leadership roles. She has also earned numerous academic accolades that reflect her dedication to personal and intellectual growth.

Outside the classroom, she is equally impressive—an athlete, artist, and performer. Osariemen plays lacrosse and enjoys dancing, painting, and drawing, showcasing her talent across various creative fields.

Further recognizing her excellence, she was recently named a 2025 “Rising to the Top” scholar by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Southern New Jersey Chapter.

Her success comes amid a growing presence of Nigerian students in U.S. higher education. According to the Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange, enrollment of Nigerian students at American institutions rose to 20,029 in the 2023/2024 academic year—a 13.5% increase from previous years.

The report noted that Nigerian students “bring a wealth of diversity, perspective, and academic excellence to U.S. campuses, enriching the educational experience for all.”
