The Senate of Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State, has approved the reopening of the institution on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, to resume academic activities.
The university was shut down three weeks ago following a student protest over road accidents that claimed the lives of five students. The closure aimed to prevent further unrest.
In a statement, the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Rebecca Okojie, announced that lectures will officially commence on Monday, March 17, 2025. The decision to reopen followed an emergency Senate meeting held on Monday, March 10, 2025.
The statement also highlighted that the university has engaged with key stakeholders to address the issues contributing to road accidents in the area, ensuring a safer environment for students.
