The Director of Media and Corporate Communications at the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Felix Ale, has endorsed the proposal to establish the Federal University of Aerospace and Aeronautics (FUAORO) in Oka-Akoko, Ondo State.
In a statement, Ale highlighted the university’s vision to become a center of excellence in high-quality teaching, research, and innovation, with the capacity to compete globally in space science and engineering.
He emphasized that the institution would bridge the gap between academia and the industrial sector, fostering an environment that enhances research quality and economic impact. “The university aims to create an enabling environment where students and faculty can acquire essential skills and maximize their potential, ultimately strengthening research quality for knowledge transfer and economic advancement,” he stated.
Ale called on President Bola Tinubu to prioritize the establishment of the university, describing it as a landmark achievement under the Renewed Hope Agenda. “Granting presidential assent and commencing academic activities at the proposed university will undoubtedly stand as one of the key milestones of the current administration’s achievements in education and technology,” he added.
Expressing confidence in the institution’s future, Ale predicted that it would gain global recognition and serve as a reference point for the international space science community. “This university will attract attention worldwide, particularly from the intellectual and prestigious space research communities,” he noted.
He reaffirmed NASRDA’s commitment to utilizing space-based solutions to address national challenges such as poverty, disease, hunger, and socio-economic issues. “The establishment of the Federal University of Aerospace and Aeronautics aligns with our mission to leverage space technology for national development,” Ale concluded.
