The Bauchi State government, through the Ministry of Education, has announced a five-week closure of all schools across the state in preparation for the 2025 Ramadan fast.
According to the approved school calendar for the 2024–2025 academic session, the holiday will run from March 1 to April 5 and will affect all public and private institutions, including primary, junior secondary, senior secondary schools, and higher institutions.
Confirming the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, the Ministry of Education’s Information Officer, Jalaludeen Maina, stated that the decision had been planned in advance as part of the academic schedule.
“Yes, we are closing all our schools, and this is included in our 2024–2025 approved academic calendar to ensure that students observe Ramadan fasting at home,” he said.
He added that academic activities would resume immediately after the fasting period.
