As part of its 2024/2025 Scholarship Awards Scheme, Nigerian Agip Exploration Limited (NAE), a subsidiary of Eni, in collaboration with NNPC Limited and NAE PSC, has awarded scholarships to 30 Nigerian graduates for postgraduate studies in Nigeria and abroad.
The program includes scholarships for ten graduates to pursue postgraduate degrees at universities in the United Kingdom and Canada, while the remaining beneficiaries will study in Nigerian institutions. Fields of study include engineering, geosciences, petroleum and environmental technology, renewable energy, and petroleum law, according to The Guardian.
During a ceremony in Abuja to honor the recipients, Fabrizio Bolondi, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of NAE, celebrated the scholars and reaffirmed the company’s dedication to educational advancement in Nigeria. “The award ceremony highlights our continuous commitment to the future of education, innovation, and progress in Nigeria. It is a moment of pride for the company to recognize the incredible talent and dedication of these scholars,” Bolondi stated, urging the beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies to maximize the opportunities provided.
The NAE PSC postgraduate fellowship program, launched in 2007, aims to bridge the skills gap in specialized disciplines related to deep offshore oil and gas activities in Nigeria. This initiative forms part of the company’s broader human capital development objectives. To date, the scheme has benefited 320 Nigerian graduates, helping to develop local professionals with expertise critical to the energy sector.
In addition to its scholarship programs, NAE and Eni have implemented various sustainability initiatives in Nigeria. These include infrastructure development, health and education programs, access to water projects, and targeted empowerment initiatives for local communities.
This scholarship program underscores NAE’s ongoing commitment to fostering education and innovation while equipping Nigerian professionals with the skills needed to contribute to the nation’s economic and industrial development.
