The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has cautioned Nigerians to disregard fraudulent websites claiming to recruit teachers for the country.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, UBEC’s Public Relations Officer, David Apeh, clarified that the recruitment sites circulating on social media are fake and do not originate from the commission.

Reports have indicated that several Nigerians have been visiting these fraudulent websites following claims of ongoing recruitment. I

t will be recalled that the former Minister of State for Education, Yusuf Sununu, had announced plans for the Federal Government to recruit 3,500 teachers for Unity Colleges as part of efforts to enhance the quality of education in the country.

However, Apeh debunked the authenticity of these claims, stating that UBEC currently has no plans to recruit teachers. “The President just appointed a new Executive Secretary for UBEC, and she recently assumed office,” he explained.

“For now, the Commission has not opened any portal for teachers’ recruitment in the country. We will surely communicate with the public when we want to recruit.”

The commission advised Nigerians to stay vigilant and rely on verified information from UBEC’s official channels to avoid falling prey to recruitment scams.
