The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that online registration for the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 will begin on Thursday, November 14, 2024. The update was shared through the NYSC X handle (formerly Twitter), @officialnyscng, on Wednesday, November 13.
This announcement has sparked reactions from awaiting corps members, with many expressing concerns about the readiness of the Senate and graduation lists required for the registration process. Some raised questions about their eligibility, while others wondered how the proximity to the festive season might affect the schedule for Stream 2.
One user, @_iAlbee, commented, “What about the Senate and graduation lists that are yet to be uploaded? How do we know if we’re even eligible to register if our names are not on the list?” Another, @TOMIDE_akins, said, “Will Stream 2 go to camp during the festive period? Transport costs could be an issue. Honest answers, please.”
Meanwhile, discussions have also resurfaced about the delay in implementing the increased monthly allowance for corps members. NYSC Director-General Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed recently clarified that the delay in paying the new N77,000 stipend, approved under the revised national minimum wage, is due to funding challenges.
Despite these issues, the NYSC continues to advise prospective corps members to stay updated through official channels to ensure a smooth registration process. Corps members are encouraged to prepare all necessary documents ahead of time to avoid complications.
