Program Details
The program aims to support undergraduates who are committed to or interested in pursuing careers in biology or related sciences and considering graduate studies. Students will spend eight weeks participating in cutting-edge biomedical research and be placed in a laboratory led by experts from the following University of Tokyo schools:
- Graduate School of Science
- Graduate School of Engineering
- Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences
- Institute of Industrial Science
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the 2025 University of Tokyo Amgen Scholars Program, applicants must:
- Be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at a university within the Asia region.
- Have completed at least their first year of undergraduate study.
- Plan to continue their undergraduate studies for at least one term after the summer program.
- Show strong academic performance.
- Have proficient English skills (minimum TOEFL iBT score of 72).
- Have an interest in pursuing a Ph.D.
Program Benefits
- Accommodation: Provided during the program.
- Stipend: 270,000 JPY, which students can use for meals and personal expenses.
- Travel Costs: Economy-class airfare to Tokyo or round-trip train tickets for domestic students, based on the most economical route.
Note: Changes in travel arrangements for personal reasons may require reimbursement of the initially planned costs.
