Ogun State Launches Digital Platform to Improve Education

Ogun State education digital platform

The Ogun State Government has launched a new digital initiative designed to improve the education sector. Named the Digital Platform for Education Revitalisation (DiPER), this platform was developed by Edutams, a school management solutions provider, with the goal of streamlining various processes within the state’s education system.

DiPER simplifies enrollment procedures, reduces bias, and ensures that admissions into flagship schools are based on merit. According to Ademola Adenubi, the Chief Executive Officer of Edutams, the platform has already assigned unique Learner Identification Numbers to over one million students across both public and private schools in Ogun State. This system tracks students’ progress from primary school through secondary school.

Adenubi emphasized that DiPER addresses gaps in education management by providing a more transparent and efficient system. Now, prospective students can apply, pay for admission forms, and receive their admission letters online. The platform has also digitized the placement process, ensuring a fair distribution of students among public secondary schools.

“Admissions to flagship schools, which previously faced issues like long waiting times and favoritism, are now determined solely by merit and available space,” Adenubi explained. He highlighted that out of 191,000 applications, 150,000 students were successfully admitted based on merit.

The platform also generates real-time data that helps with resource allocation, ensuring an even distribution of students and teachers across schools. Additionally, revenue collection has become more efficient thanks to DiPER.

Adenubi added that Edutams aims to work with national policymakers and other stakeholders to replicate this system across Nigeria. He believes that locally developed technology can play a crucial role in enhancing education management throughout the country.
