The WAAW Foundation is excited to announce its 2025 scholarships for young African women. These scholarships offer $500 per year to support female students pursuing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) degrees at universities or colleges in Africa. The goal is to increase the number of African women in STEM fields and ensure their participation in African innovation.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the WAAW Foundation Undergraduate STEM Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be female students of African origin, currently living and studying in Africa.
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate B.S. degree program focused on STEM courses.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Have an excellent academic record.
- Show leadership through volunteering and community service.
- Be below 32 years of age.
- Be in their first or second year of study, or in their third year if enrolled in a five-year course.
Please Note: The scholarship does not cover graduate programs (master’s, MBA, Ph.D.), second degrees, students older than 32, non-STEM courses, or diploma programs.

- Award Amount: $500 per academic year, or the equivalent in the local currency.
- Renewability: The scholarship is renewable annually based on continued academic performance.
- STEM Outreach Requirement: Recipients are required to start a STEM Outreach Chapter at their university.
Application Process

- Statement of Need: Describe why the scholarship funds are necessary and how they will be used.
- Essays: Prepare essays addressing your career goals and how the WAAW scholarship will support your education. Include a 500-word essay on your proudest achievement.
- References: Provide the names of two academic/professional references. Note that recommendation letters and transcripts are required only if shortlisted.

- Two references: One from a professor and one from an academic advisor or mentor.
- A signed and sealed transcript from your university.
- A scanned copy of your student ID card.
