The announcement was made on NELFUND’s official X account on September 6, 2024. The organization expressed its satisfaction with this progress, stating, “NELFUND is thrilled to announce that we have successfully disbursed student loans to 40 more institutions, making a total of 59 institutions now part of the program. This expansion represents a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to providing educational opportunities for all Nigerian students.”
The newly added institutions cover a broad range of locations and academic programs. Some of the institutions receiving loans include:

- Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu, Anambra State – ₦193,377,100.00

The loan amounts vary widely across institutions, reflecting their specific needs and student populations. For example, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Ogun State received ₦133,995,450.00, while Yaba College of Technology, Lagos State received ₦733,000.00.
According to recent data from NELFUND, the student loan registration process shows high demand, with Kano State leading in applications. Kano had 17,122 applicants out of 20,814 registered students.
