The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will end its policy of accepting undisclosed admissions from Nigerian universities. This policy, known as the Condonement of Undisclosed Institutional Illegal Admissions (CUIIA), will be terminated on August 31.
JAMB explained that the CUIIA process, which allowed some unregistered candidates to be admitted, has been misused by higher institutions. Moving forward, all universities and other higher education institutions in Nigeria must disclose all admitted candidates to JAMB.
JAMB has stated that only the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is authorized for handling admissions. Institutions are required to use CAPS to upload and manage admission statuses.
In response to an inquiry, JAMB advised candidates to visit any JAMB Professional Registration Centers (PRC) before August 31 to apply for CUIIA if they are affected.
JAMB is responsible for organizing entrance exams for Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions. It was established in 1978 and is currently led by Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who has been in charge since August 2016.
The board had previously set a deadline for tertiary institutions to register students admitted between 2017 and 2020 who were not processed through CAPS. JAMB introduced CAPS in 2017 to centralize and automate the admission process.
JAMB has also emphasized that its admission letters can only be processed once. This policy aims to ensure the integrity of the admissions process and prevent fraud.
