The University of Lausanne (UNIL) in Switzerland is inviting applications for the 2024/2025 Master’s Grants Scholarships. This prestigious scholarship program is designed for outstanding students who have graduated from foreign universities and wish to pursue their master’s degree at UNIL.

Scholarship Overview
The UNIL Master’s Grants Scholarships are awarded to about ten exceptional students annually. The scholarship provides CHF 1,600 per month from September 15 to July 15 for the duration of the master’s program (1.5 to 2 years). This scholarship covers the statutory period of the chosen program but does not extend to cases of definitive failure after the first year.
Eligible Programs
The scholarship is available for most master’s programs at UNIL, with a few exceptions:
- Master from the School of Medicine
- Master in Sciences and Practices of Education
- Master of Law (exceptions: “International and Comparative Law,” “Legal Theory,” “International Tax Law and Policy”)
- Master of Science in Physical Education and Sport Didactics
- Master of Science in Health Sciences
- Master of Science in Sustainable Management & Technology
- All MASs (3rd cycle programs, Further Education programs)
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the UNIL Master’s Grants Scholarships, applicants must:
- Hold a foreign university degree equivalent to a Swiss bachelor’s degree before starting the master’s program at UNIL.
- Have an excellent academic record, particularly in their previous studies.
- Demonstrate proficiency in French or English (minimum level C1 according to the European Language Portfolio).
- Not be currently registered at UNIL.
- Pay the CHF 200 administrative fee as part of the application process.
Timeline
- November 1: Application deadline.
- November to December: Application processing by SASME and the Admissions Office.
- December to January: Notification to candidates with incomplete or unsuccessful applications.
- January to February: Eligible applications are reviewed by the faculties.
- February to March: Selection Board reviews and selects scholarship recipients.
- Early April: Candidates are informed of the final decision.
Application Process
- The application for the Master’s Scholarship also serves as the admission application for the chosen master’s program at UNIL.
- Applicants must apply online and upload a complete application file in PDF format.
- Incomplete applications or those sent by email will not be considered.
- Applicants from universities in states that have not ratified the Lisbon Recognition Convention must send certified copies of their documents by postal mail, while those from ratifying states do not need to send certified copies.
