President Bola Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the Governing Councils and Boards of federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education to enhance the management of tertiary institutions across Nigeria. This announcement was made by the Permanent Secretary of the General Services Office, Nnamdi Mbaeri, on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Air Cdr Emmanuel Jekada from Kaduna has been appointed as the Chairman of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, while former Minister of Defence, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed from Bauchi, will now chair Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Dr. Tony Nebo from Enugu State has been named the Chairman of Alex Ekwueme University, Ndufu Alike, Ebonyi State.
Other notable appointments include Hon. Yusuf Ademola Ganiat from Kwara, who will chair Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo State; Senator Joy Emordi from Anambra as the chair of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri; and former Kano State Deputy Governor Nasiru Gawuna Yusuf as the Chairman of Bayero University, Kano. Senator Nora Ladi Daddut from Plateau has been appointed as the chair of the Federal University of Technology, Akure.
Oba Abdulrasheed Ayotunde from Osun will chair the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, while Senator Jack Tilly Gyado from Benue will head the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. Dr. Mohammed Kudu Santurari from Niger is appointed to the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, and Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba from Cross River is the new Chairman of the Federal University, Lokoja.
Rt. Hon. Lola Akande Fibisola from Lagos will chair the Federal University, Lafia, while Prof. Olu Aderounmu from Ondo will chair the Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State. Col. Abdulmumini Aminu (rtd) from Katsina is the new Chairman of the Federal University, Dutsin Ma, and Prof. AbdulRahman Oba from Kwara is the Chairman of the Federal University Dutse.
Prof. Siyan Oyefeso from Lagos is the Chairman of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and Amb. Greg Mbadiwe from Imo is the Chairman of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Malam Isa Yuguda from Bauchi has been appointed Chairman of the National Open University of Nigeria, and Dr. Muiz Banire from Lagos is the Chairman of the Federal University of Transportation, Daura. Senator Lanre Tejuosho from Ogun will chair the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi.
Chief Bisi Akande from Osun is the Chairman of the University of Ibadan; Prof. Zubairu Abdulahi from Kaduna chairs the University of Uyo; AVM Sadiq Kaita (rtd) from Kaduna is the Chairman of the University of Abuja; and Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa from Abia is the Chairman of the University of Port Harcourt.
Additionally, DIG Udom Ekpoudom (rtd) from Akwa Ibom is the Chairman of the University of Calabar; Prof. Umar Shuibu from Gombe is the Chairman of the University of Benin; Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN from Ekiti is the Chairman of the University of Lagos; and Gen. Ike Nwachukwu (rtd) from Abia is the Chairman of the University of Nigeria. The African Aviation and Aerospace University, Abuja has Alhaji Bukar Goni from Yobe as its Chairman.
