Tinubu intervention certificates Benin Togo

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) – West Africa Affairs has voiced concerns over the ongoing suspension of certificates issued by universities in Benin Republic and Togo by the federal government. In a statement by Comrade Joshua Olakunle, Director of NANS – West Africa Affairs, the association appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene, emphasizing the plight of Nigerian youths whose future is at risk due to this issue.

NANS highlighted that many prominent Nigerians, including celebrities, have successfully studied in Benin Republic and Togo, demonstrating the credibility of these institutions. The association urged the government to focus on improving standards in Nigerian universities rather than targeting foreign institutions for certificate suspension.

The statement underscored the efforts of universities in Benin Republic and Togo to enhance their educational facilities and meet regional standards. NANS proposed a collaborative approach between Nigeria and ECOWAS countries to regulate and elevate university education in the sub-region, advocating for strengthened regional cooperation.

President Tinubu was urged to consider the impact on Nigerian students and intervene swiftly to resolve the certificate suspension issue. NANS emphasized the importance of timely action from the Ministry of Education to address concerns raised by students and stakeholders alike.
