Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State, Nigeria, is set to partner with the British Education Group, the owners of Coventry University in Bouskoura, Morocco. This collaboration aims to enhance the education sector in Gombe State by providing students with access to high-quality education and greater opportunities.

During a visit to Coventry University, Governor Yahaya and his team were warmly welcomed by the university’s founder and CEO, Mr. Nabeel Obaid. Mr. Obaid gave the delegation a thorough tour of the university’s faculties and shared that since 2001, Coventry University has been offering top-notch British education and awarding Bachelor’s, Master’s, and MBA degrees through its connection with Cardiff Metropolitan University. He highlighted that the university uses English exclusively, preparing students for success in an English-speaking business world.

Governor Yahaya expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and the potential for future collaboration. He emphasized that partnering with universities like Coventry is essential for providing Gombe State students with the best education and skills to succeed globally. Such partnerships are vital for the development of the state, as education is the foundation for progress.

The visit included presentations by the Commissioner of Education, Associate Professor Aishatu Umar Maigari, and the Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, Professor Aliyu Usman Elnafaty. They stressed the importance of this partnership and the positive impact it could have on the education system in Gombe State. The agreement will include a student exchange program, affordable courses with flexible payment options, and a variety of campuses and programs tailored to students’ needs.

To formalize this collaboration, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will soon be signed between the Gombe State government, through Gombe State University, and Coventry University. This MoU will solidify the partnership and pave the way for sustainable and mutual benefits in the field of education.
