Professor Paul Awo Nwobasi, the Commissioner for Education in Ebonyi State, recently announced plans to address the issue of non-promotion among teachers. Speaking during a five-day training workshop for Head Teachers, Education Officers, and Principals of Junior Secondary Schools, he highlighted the state government’s dedication to improving education.
The workshop, themed “Effective School Management in the 21st Century,” was organized in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Abuja, and the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Nigeria, Ondo. Professor Nwobasi emphasized the importance of the workshop, urging participants to adopt innovative and modern teaching methods.
Expressing gratitude to the attendees, the Commissioner stressed the need for ongoing training and improvement in the education sector. He assured teachers that their promotions are forthcoming and encouraged them to stay committed to their work. Professor Nwobasi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing incentives for teachers and creating a supportive environment for their professional growth.
Dr. Samson O. Oyeromi, Acting Director General of NIEPA, highlighted the importance of equipping educators with relevant skills for the 21st century. He urged participants to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop to enhance school management practices and improve student outcomes.
Mrs. Folajogwu Akinkuowo, a facilitator from NIEPA, pointed out the workshop’s focus on instructional leadership, climate change awareness, and stress management. She emphasized the need for practical application to bring about positive changes in schools.
In a goodwill message, Patience Ogodo, Chairperson of UBEB Ebonyi State, praised the collaboration between NIEPA and the Ministry of Education. She encouraged participants to use the knowledge they gained to improve school management and contribute to the overall enhancement of education in the state.
The training workshop, which also included educators from Abia State, aimed to equip teachers and principals with the necessary skills to foster effective school management and ensure quality education.
