The University of Birmingham, in collaboration with Google DeepMind, is offering a fully funded scholarship for talented students aspiring to pursue careers in cutting-edge fields of industry and research. This scholarship provides full funding worth £56,525, covering tuition fees, relocation, and living stipends for selected international applicants.

The School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham is thrilled to announce that these scholarships, generously funded by DeepMind, are open to applicants with either a conditional or unconditional offer for the MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. This initiative aims to enhance diversity and accessibility for underrepresented groups in computer science.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet one or both of the following criteria:

  • Identify as female, Black African, Black Caribbean, or other Black ethnicity.
  • Demonstrate financial need, showing they cannot accept the offer without assistance.

Additionally, applicants must:

  • Hold a conditional or unconditional offer for the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the University of Birmingham.
  • Be ordinarily resident in the UK or classified as an international student for fee-paying purposes.

Scholarship Benefits

The DeepMind Scholarship provides comprehensive financial support:

  • International scholarships valued at £52,565 each and UK scholarships at £34,225 each.
  • Coverage of international tuition fees (£27,540) and UK tuition fees (£10,980).
  • A maintenance grant of £19,345 for living costs, paid in instalments over the course duration.
  • Funding up to £2,200 for attending international conferences in AI and Machine Learning.
  • £1,700 towards the purchase of essential equipment like laptops.
  • £1,870 to assist with relocation expenses.

Application Process

Applications are accepted only from offer holders of the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program. Follow these steps to apply:

  1. Apply for admission to the University of Birmingham for the MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
  2. Upon receiving an offer, applicants will get an email with a direct application link for the DeepMind scholarship.
  3. The final application deadline is July 21, 2024.
  4. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview by the end of July 2024.
