To celebrate Africa Day 2024, MultiChoice stressed how important education is for developing talent in Africa’s entertainment industry. The company believes that Africa has a lot of untapped potential. It’s crucial to address education challenges so that students gain skills that will help them and the continent in the future.

This year’s Africa Day theme is “Educate an African fit for the 21st century.” MultiChoice is dedicated to giving aspiring professionals the “sustainable education” they need to succeed in the fast-changing film and television sector. This is done through their MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) initiative.

John Ugbe, CEO of MultiChoice West Africa, said that around 92 percent of MTF Academy graduates find jobs in the creative sector. Many of these graduates end up working at MultiChoice, which calls itself “Africa’s most-loved storyteller.” Ugbe explained that this high employment rate shows how education can unlock the potential of Africa’s young people. Education can turn Africa’s 400 million young people, aged 15 to 35, into a new generation of professionals like doctors, lawyers, engineers, and media experts.

Africa Day is celebrated every year on May 25. It commemorates the founding of the Organisation of African Unity in May 1963. This day reminds everyone about the importance of unity and development across Africa, with education being a key part of progress.
