The University of Sheffield is offering a special scholarship for postgraduate students from Africa in 2024. This scholarship is in partnership with the University of Sheffield Africa Scholarship Trust.
What the Scholarship Covers
• A full tuition fee waiver
• £8,000 for living costs
• Free accommodation in a single en-suite room in university housing
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, you must meet these requirements:
• Have an offer to study one of these master’s courses starting in September 2024:
MA International Development
MSc Environmental Change and International Development
MPH International Development
• Be classified as an international student for tuition fees
• Be self-funded, not receiving funding from other sources
• Not already have a master’s degree or higher
• Have not previously studied outside your home country
• Be able to attend full-time
• Have an unconditional offer by September 2, 2024
• Receive a visa to study at Sheffield in September 2024
• Be a citizen of or permanently residing in an African country
• The scholarship cannot be deferred or combined with other awards

• Deadline is 1pm UK time on May 28, 2024
• Apply using your applicant login after receiving an offer
• Applicants will be notified by end of June 2024
Selection Criteria
Not all applicants will receive the scholarship. A panel will select the strongest application based on:
• Excellent academic record
• Clear reasons for choosing Sheffield
• Overcoming barriers to academic/professional progress
• Work experience related to international development
• Future goals benefiting your country/Africa
• Possible discrimination due to personal factors
