This milestone was announced in the university’s bulletin, which described it as a testament to the exceptional academic standards and support systems at UNILORIN. Miss Olabisi successfully passed the November 2024 professional examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), fulfilling her long-held dream of becoming a chartered accountant at a young age.

In her remarks, Miss Olabisi credited her success to the unwavering support of her lecturers and her mother, who motivated her to reach this milestone.

Dr. Segun Abogun, the acting head of the Department of Accounting, praised Miss Olabisi for her “outstanding achievement,” describing her success as a source of pride for the department. He revealed that she is among several students from the department who passed the ICAN professional exams last year. Dr. Abogun encouraged her and her peers to continue to inspire others, aiming to produce more chartered accountants even before they graduate.

Reacting to the achievement, the Vice Chancellor of UNILORIN, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, expressed his delight in a statement issued by the institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun. Professor Egbewole praised Miss Olabisi for bringing honor to her family, the institution, and womanhood.

He noted that the university’s tradition of producing outstanding professionals among its students, staff, and alumni contributes to its reputation as Nigeria’s most sought-after institution. He also highlighted the enduring peace and conducive learning environment at UNILORIN as factors that enable such achievements.

The Vice Chancellor, who doubles as the Secretary-General of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU), urged Miss Olabisi to maintain her commitment to excellence and continue to serve as a role model in both learning and character. He further encouraged other students to emulate her dedication to academic and professional success.

Miss Olabisi’s accomplishment underscores the University of Ilorin’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering excellence in education and professional development.
